Wheat is a common staple in every kitchen. From biscuits, chapati, roti, paratha, pasta, noodle, bread this grain has been consumed in many ways all around the world. Wheat has two extreme reputations - whole wheat being good because of the fiber content while refined flour finds itself in the unhealthy food list.
That said, it is common to see foods that claim to be wheat-based yet contain equal quantities of refined flour usually mentioned as "Refined Wheat Flour". This recipe is a great snack that is not just carbohydrates from wheat flour but also has protein from bengal gram flour. This recipe can be whipped up with ingredients in your kitchen cabinet. Ingredients
1/2 cup Whole Wheat Flour
1/4 cup Red Rice Flakes powder
2 tsp Black Sesame Seeds
2 tsp Roasted Bengal gram Powder
1 tbsp Red Chilli Flakes
Water
1 tbsp Oil
Salt to taste
Let's get Cooking!
Mix together the whole wheat flour, red rice flakes powder, roasted bengal gram powder, sesame seeds, and red chilli flakes.
Add water little by little followed by oil and knead it till it becomes a ball.
Shape the dough into small balls and roll them out.
Use cookie cutters or small bowls to cut them into triangular or circular shapes. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top
Bake them in a pre-heated oven at 180˚C for 20 minutes.
Note:
If you are making multiple batches, you wouldn't have to cook 2nd batch onwards for 20 minutes. It will be done in 15 minutes. Make sure to place the cracker in low tray or low rack to avoid burning on the top and equal cooking on both the top and bottom.
